Baby gorillas, called infants, are born weighing around 4 to 5 pounds and are completely dependent on their mothers for care. At birth, they are unable to see or walk, relying on their mother's warmth and protection. As they grow, baby gorillas begin to explore their surroundings, learning important social behaviors and communication from their family. They cling to their mothers for the first few months and gradually start to play with other young gorillas in the group. These early years are crucial for their development, as they learn vital survival skills, such as foraging, social interaction, and how to navigate their forest homes. The bond between a baby gorilla and its mother is incredibly strong, lasting for several years.
